Reading Literature / Reading Informational Text – (On-going throughout the year)

• RL 7.1 – Cite textual evidence that strongly supports what text says & inferences drawn

• RL 7.2 / RI 7.2 – Determine theme / main idea of text; analyze development; provide summary

• RL 7.3 – Analyze how story elements interact

RI 7.3 – Analyze how text makes connections among & between individuals, ideas, events

RI 7.4 – Determine meaning of words / phrases used in text to include figurative & connotative, technical meanings; analyze impact of word choices on meaning & tone

• RL 7.5 – Analyze how a drama’s or poem’s structure contributes to its meaning

RI 7.5 – Analyze the structure author uses to organize text including how major sections contribute to whole & development of ideas

• RL 7.6 – Analyze how author develops & contrasts pts of view of different characters

RI 7.6 – Determine author’s pt. of view / purpose; analyze how author distinguishes his/her position from others’
